After the defeat of Telakin and the the encounter with the Illithid Mind Flayer and his Drow Thralls, the Heroes traveled back up to the Crooked House where they carried out a number of financial and logistical errands. Highlights included the following:

  • Tyree purchased an exceptionally crafted magical mithril breastplate set with a relief of the legendary Feint of Honor for 7,750 gp. Hilmer, friend of Storn and proprietor was happy to recite the legend after the purchase:
In ancient times, the Forest Country between the Thunder Peaks and the Storm Horns mountain ranges was the domain of dragons, including “The Black Doom”, the mighty Wyrm Thauglorimorgorus. Elves who settled the forests of now Cormyr found themselves at war with the dragons. This ongoing strife ended in a duel. The Elven Warrior-Mage Iliphar Nelnueve, aka The Lord of Scepters, defeated Thauglorimorgorus.

Even as the Elves displaced the dragons, humans from Impiltur and Chondath eventually pushed back the elves from the coast of the future Cormyr.

Specifics of the “Feint of Honor” as detailed on the magical armor.
Some 1577 years ago in the "Year of Good Hunting" (-205DR), at the steps of the Elven Horn Tower with its brilliant blue glowing crystal carved in the shape of a flame, the legendary Elven Mage-Warrior Iliphar Nelnueve, aka The Lord of Scepters, stood before the mighty Ruler of the region now known as Cormyr, Thuaglorimorgorus, aka Thuglor the Mighty, aka Thuglor the Black Doom, an ancient Great Black Dragon. A war had raged for many years pitting dragons vs. elves in a struggle for the region.

At this famous parley, Iliphar Nelnueve presented 5 great reptilian skulls (the remains of 5 great Green Dragons). Each skull was embedded with multiple amethysts. Each amethyst representing an Elven warrior killed in battle vs. the dragon. One skull with as few as 3 amethysts and another with as many as 20 amethysts.

The Great Thuaglorimorgorus agreed to a "Feint of Honor" (a battle to submission) as a result of these skulls. It was agreed in advance that the loser would retire from the great forest of now Cormyr, and the war would end honorably.

Great Thuaglorimorgorus was defeated in the duel and withdrew to slumber once again for an agreed time period ( 100 Trog-Daars) which equated to 1,575 years. The skulls are said to now rest deep beneath the Royal Court of Suzail. The location known only to Vangerdahast, The Royal Magician, and a select few others. Protected by powerful wards and secret passageways.

  • Tyree 'unknowingly' arrested Mascar WinterEagle in quite the ironic coincidence. The Heroes turned Mascar over to Fenten and the City Watch and were rewarded.
  • Kamist purchased a number of items and commissioned a number of items.
  • Alobron attempted to commission an item known as the Greater True Death Crystal with only partial luck. He was told to come back the following day to the Black Staff Academy.
  • Aedrinar visited the Order of Magists and Protectors and arranged for the purchase of magically enchanted Mind Blast Ward Stones (single use +3 Will Save vs Mind Blast Attacks).
  • The Heroes sold a ton of loot.

After this, the Heroes prepared for the the next day's quest to assault the evil Mind Flayer, ever mindful of Alobron's mysterious meeting with the former slave girl known as Celeste set for the evening of the 18th. The night was uneventful.

In the morning (the 18th), after a few more errands, the Heroes set out for the last known location for the Mind Flayer learned from the note found in Telakin's belongings (the Sewer Junction room in the DockWard just beneath Grocer's Lane where it meets Snake Alley). In Tyree's travels around the city and the other Heroes' familiarity with Waterdeep, a Sewer entrance was quickly found. Tyree and Storn indicated that the "Beggars' Gold" found on the Drow Thrall boots was a fungus found often near and around run-off from Smiths. As it turned out there just happened to be a small Smith near this intersection near/beneath the Butcher's Guildhall.

After a fair bit of searching Tyree found a tunnel off the main sewer line full of Beggars' Gold. It appeared to be the Mind Flayer's Lair as the Heroes soon found themselves in combat with Drow Thralls.

Later the Heroes parlayed with a huge Naga and after a fair bit of diplomacy by Egwaine and not Tyree, the Heroes were allowed to pass with offerings of some of the captured Drow equipment (nicely done). Later more battles with Drow to include a unit of Drow Archers and a Drow Priestess of Lloth commanding a number of Kyuss Spawn Worm Zombies. The Hereos were just to late to save the Waterhavian human captives who became worm food and needed to be destroyed.

It is now Highsun and you find yourself in an alien and very foreign cavern with walls that are gradually turning into very finely worked stone.

Ready yourselves Heroes.
